Results at a Glance
End Result A: Eliminate accidental injuries, fatalities and occupational illnesses within departmental jurisdiction.
- Target: A three percent reduction in the five-year moving average rate of workplace fatalities per 100,000 employees.
- Target: Zero accidental workplace fatalities.
Status of Strategies to Achieve End Result
End Result B: Full employment of Alaska workforce.
- Target: Increase employment of the Alaska resident workforce by 0.5 percent per year.
- Target: Decrease the percent of non-residents working in Alaska by two percent per year.
- During FY2012, 93.3 percent of Workforce Investment Act (WIA) and State Training and Employment Program (STEP) training completers entered employment. While in-line with the performance rates from the past two fiscal years, the rate falls short of the 95 percent target.
- Ninety-one percent of Alaska Vocational Technical Center's (AVTEC) long-term program (greater than six weeks) graduates were employed in their area of training within the following 18 months. FY2011 graduate placement data is still being compiled and will be available January 2013.
- In FY2012, 50 percent of Alaska Labor Exchange System registrants entered employment after exiting the system, a decrease of one percent compared to the previous year.
- In FY2012, a record level 637 individuals exited the Vocational Rehabilitation program employed, a 12 percent increase from the 569 that exited employed in FY2011. This exceeded the target of maintaining the prior year performance.
Status of Strategies to Achieve End Result
End Result C: Eligible Alaskans receive timely income replacement payments and determinations.
- Target: Exceed the federal timeliness benchmark of 87 percent of initial Unemployment Insurance payments within 21 days.
- Target: Requests for reimbursement from the Fishermen's Fund will be paid within 30 days of receipt.
