Analysis of results and challenges: The Veterans Benefits Administration has introduced a new statistic, Dependents" Indemnity Compensation (DIC), for eligible surviving family members, resulting in a substantial increase in compensation for Alaska. This tracking started during COVID due to all of the dependent claims filed. This measure does not reflect direct assistant to spouses.

Analysis of results and challenges: Veteran Services saw an increase in office locations due to the PACT ACT making it difficult for some to travel to rural areas. OVA filled the gap with VA Rural Outreach and VA Healthcare Outreach Clinics.

Locations visited SFY2025: Anchor Point, Bethel, Clear SFS, Copper Lake, Delta Junction, Dillingham, Fairbanks, Fort Greely, Glennallen, Homer, Kenai, Kenney Lake, Ketchikan,
Kodiak, Ninilchik, Nikiski, Nome, Seward, Sitka, Skagway, and Soldotna.

Analysis of results and challenges: Alaska still continues to have the most Veterans per capita in the United States. Only 37,800 are enrolled in the Alaska Federal VA System. This number only changes by a couple of hundred based on “snowbirds”.
