While there were medical expenditure savings, the actual amounts cannot be validated. Methods for capturing this information have been updated. In FY2024 there were five negotiated medical bills with 100 percent negotiating success rate totaling just under $30,000 in savings for victims. Important Note: With the expansion of Medicaid, individuals who previously lacked coverage and faced significant medical bills are now typically covered under Medicaid. As a result, VCCB is now seeing fewer of these types of requests compared to previous years. However, negotiating lower liabilities on behalf of victims remains a priority. VCCB has been focused on strengthening program partnerships, responsiveness, and public trust. During this time, VCCB undertook key initiatives to rebuild the program`s reputation and enhance support for victims across Alaska. The Board prioritized increasing frequency of meetings and processing claims that never fully reached an eligibility determination from prior years. FY2021 through FY2023 was a period of transition for the Violent Crimes Compensation Board. The data provided for FY2022 and FY2023 reflects claims processed, not all claims.
