Mission

To mitigate the impact of violent crime in Alaska by providing financial compensation to eligible crime victims and their families.

Savings have declined from prior years due to Medicaid expansion and fewer uninsured medical claims, but cost negotiation remains a key strategy for program sustainability. Growth reflects increased program awareness, improved online accessibility, and strengthened partnerships with law enforcement and victim service programs. This improvement reflects the Board`s delegation of eligibility determinations to the Executive Director for cases within established policy, as well as increased meeting frequency and database modernization.
