The Division continues to process all completed applications within the established time frames. Please note that the Division receives retirement applications well in advance of scheduled retirement dates but cannot process those applications until after the employee retires. Due to challenging work schedules and payroll processes, Alaska Marine Highway System (AMHS) verifications normally take anywhere from six to eight months to be completed by AMHS and routed to the Division. Delays in receiving divorce documents and evidence of date of marriage or date birth can also lead to delays in processing retirements. The Division continues to struggle with an average of 5 to 9 vacant positions out of 57 total positions within the Member Benefits section per month which has negatively affected overall processing times. Despite this, the agency still manages to achieve its target of processing fully completed applications within the 42 day target. Target Last Modified: 10/28/2024
