Target #1: Class average of 90% or greater on the final fitness test
Academy Law Enforcement Training Class Fitness Test Average
Analysis of results and challenges: The primary factor contributing to physical training test scores is the physical condition of recruits when they arrive at the academy. While the Department of Public Safety has minimum fitness standards for entry, municipal officers and university students do not. To overcome this, an academy minimum entrance PT standard was implemented in FY 2021 with the hope that improved fitness test scores will result. Well-planned group exercise sessions as well as more individualized training programs during the recruits time at the academy have been implemented to improve each recruit's fitness and physical condition. |
