A2: Core Service - Reduce the incidence of victimization of women and children by sexual offenders. |
Target #1: 80% of sexual assault / sexual abuse cases are closed with the identification of a suspect or offender
Percentage of Sexual Assault/Sexual Abuse Cases Closed with the Identification of a Suspect or Offender
Analysis of results and challenges: Alaska has a high incidence of sexual assault and sexual abuse. This measure was implemented during FY2009 to address the AST's role in and commitment to reducing the victimization of women and children by sexual offenders. In certain jurisdictions troopers engaged in education on health life practices in school sponsored programs and education of troopers through Violence Against Women Act (VAWA) programs. It is a measuring point for evaluating of the quality of AST's initial response and investigations with the result being an enhanced ability to identify suspects and/or offenders. This measure was modified in FY2014 to better reflect the results of AST's efforts. Calendar year information is reported to allow for greater accuracy in the data collected due to incident closure time frames. |

Target #1: 80% of misdemeanor and felony alcohol crimes are closed with the identification of a suspect or offender
Percentage of Misdemeanor and Felony Alcohol Crimes Investigated that are Closed with Identification of a Suspect or Offender

This measure, implemented in FY2009, provides AST the method to evaluate the quality of its initial response and investigations, resulting in an enhanced ability to identify suspects and/or offenders. This measure was modified in FY2014 to better reflect the results of AST's efforts. Calendar year information is reported to allow for greater accuracy in the data collected due to incident closure time frames. |
