Target #1: The long-term investment return target is 5% plus CPI-U (Consumer Price Index, All Urban Consumers) inflation factor.
Consolidated Endowment Fund Investment Returns
Analysis of results and challenges: The University of Alaska Foundation Consolidated Endowment Fund (UAFCEF) underperformed the long-term investment return objective benchmark in both FY19 and FY20 and outperformed it in FY18. The trailing 3-year investment return, net of fees, was 5.3%. The main challenge for this performance indicator is being able to achieve the desired rate of return every year while pursuing a long-term investment strategy and portfolio diversification. In FY20, the financial markets experienced a lot of volatility; most broad equity indices ventured into the negative return territory in the 1st calendar quarter of 2020, only to be followed by one of best performing quarters on record from April to June of 2020. |
C: Result - Increase the number of alumni donors to UA |
C1: Core Service - Secure and steward philanthropic support. |
Target #1: Increase the 5 year rolling average of the number of alumni donors to the University of Alaska.
Number of Alumni Donors
Analysis of results and challenges: FY20 declines can be attributed to staffing vacancies within the development/alumni functions and the pandemic creating widespread economic uncertainty. |
